Bovine Leukaemia Virus onco-protein Tax antigen identification in human lymphomas tissue
Background: Bovine leukaemia virus (BLV) is the primary cause of enzootic bovine leukaemia which belongs to the HTLV/BLV group of oncogenic retroviruses including Human T-cell leukaemia virus types 1, 2, and 3 and simian T-lymphotropic virus. Due to daily consumption of milk, meat and other dairy by-products, a possible role in appearing human cancers can be assumed for BLV. Materials and Metho...
متن کاملMalignant transformation of a preneoplastic hamster epidermal cell line by the EJ c-Ha-ras-oncogene.
We have investigated whether the activation of endogenous ras genes is associated with the immortalization or malignant transformation of primary hamster epidermal cells by chemical carcinogens. We have also asked whether transfection of a cloned c-Ha-ras oncogene (pEJ) into a nontumorigenic cell line established from hamster epidermal cells by N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine treatment can...
متن کاملTransformation of normal homologous cells by a spontaneously activated Ha-ras oncogene.
Several tumor-derived oncogenes have been shown to independently act as complete carcinogens following transfection into target cells from established tissue culture lines. However, the number and types of oncogenes required to transform primary cultures of normal mammalian cells is unclear. To clarify this issue in a simplified model system, we transfected genomic DNA from a naturally occurrin...
متن کاملBovine leukaemia virus and enzootic bovine leukosis.
Infection of bovines with bovine leukaemia virus (BLV) manifests itself in either of two ways: 30-70% of carriers develop persistent lymphocytosis (PL), with the viral genome integrated at a large number of different sites in the DNA of the affected B-lymphocytes, without causing any chromosomal abnormalities. Only 0,1-10% of carriers develop lymphoid tumours, which also consist of B-lymphocyte...
متن کاملMorphological transformation and tumorigenicity in C3H/10T1/2 cells transformed with an inducible c-Ha-ras oncogene.
A C3H/10T1/2 cell line containing an inducible metallothionein-ras hybrid oncogene was conditionally and reversibly transformed upon exposure to zinc ions. Interestingly, although the cell line was fully malignant when expressing only low levels of ras, complete morphological transformation required much higher levels.
